Scientific Advisory Panel

The Scientific Advisory Panel is closely involved in the research and development of products, technology and patent strategy. The company is in contact with the Scientific Advisory Panel members on a regular basis with respect to ongoing research. In addition, the Scientific Advisory Panel meets face-to-face as needed.

Roderick Stephen Bradbury has been a member of the Scientific Advisory Panel since July 1997. Mr. Bradbury has more than 20 years experience in formulation and product development chemistry in the pesticide industry, including expertise in the agrochemical, microbial pesticide, natural products and environmental chemical industries, as well as government research. Mr. Bradbury is the holder of numerous patents and has also published numerous articles in his field. Mr. Bradbury received his B.Sc. (Honors) in Chemistry from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom. Mr. Bradbury works with the other Scientific Advisory Panel members and EcoSMART's technical staff to develop formulations and analytical methods for technology and products. Mr. Bradbury also manages EcoSMART's Analytical Laboratory in Vancouver, Canada.

Joel R. Coats, Ph.D. has been a member of the Scientific Advisory Panel since December 1998. Dr. Coats is a Professor and currently serves as the Chair of Insecticide Toxicology and Environmental Toxicology at Iowa State University. Dr. Coats has more than 20 years experience in the fields of entomology and toxicology and is one of the foremost experts on the insecticidal properties of natural plant essential oils. Dr. Coats has published over 120 articles and edited a textbook on insecticide toxicology. He received a B.S. in Zoology from Arizona State University and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Entomology from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Coats works with the Scientific Advisory Panel members in the areas of efficacy, toxicology and environmental health.

Harlan Feese, Ph.D is the most recent addition to the Scientific Advisory Panel being appointed in 2004. He serves as the Technical Director for EcoSMART’s Commercial Division. Dr. Feese has over 25 years of experience in entomology, crop protection, IPM, and residential and commercial pest control. After tenure as an Associate Professor in the Crop Science Department at Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo, CA, he served as Market Development Manager for ICI Americas, Inc. and most recently, the Vice President of Technical Services for Orkin Exterminating Company in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Feese received a B.S. in biology from West Texas State University and a M.S. and Ph.D. in entomology from Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS. He is a Board Certified Entomologist and a member of the Entomological Society of America, the Entomological Society of Australia, the National Pest Management Association, and the Georgia Pest Control Association.

Ramon Georgis, Ph.D. has been a member of the Scientific Advisory Panel since 2001 and now serves as Vice President for EcoSMART’s Agricultural Division. He has published more than 60 scientific papers and 8 book chapters in crop protection and production technologies during his 25 years involved in the development of chemical and biological pesticide products. Dr. Georgis completed his M.S. and Ph.D. in England at the University of Reading and his post-doctoral work at the University of California-Berkeley. Dr. Georgis is a member of the Entomological Society of America, the American Chemical Society, the Society of Invertebrate Pathology, the Society of Nematologists and the American Society of Agronomy.

Murray B. Isman, Ph.D. has worked with EcoSMART since 1995 and was a founding member of the Scientific Advisory Panel in 1996. He is a Professor of Entomology and Toxicology at The University of British Columbia, Vancouver, in the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences. He has authored 95 referred publications, including ten book chapters, and has co-edited two books. Dr. Isman has performed extensive research in the areas of natural insecticides, insect toxicology and plant natural products, with particular emphasis on the development of botanical insecticides and anti-feedants. Dr. Isman is a recipient of the C. Gordon Hewitt Award from the Entomological Society of Canada. Dr. Isman received his doctorate in Entomology from the University of California at Davis. Dr. Isman works with other Scientific Advisory Panel members and EcoSMART's technical staff in the areas of agricultural entomology and toxicology, and product development.

A. David Lindsay Ph.D. has been a member of the Scientific Advisory Panel since 1997, and he previously served as Vice President of Operations for EcoSMART. Dr. Lindsay is now a Formulation Scientist with Goldschmidt Chemical Corporation. He was Vice President of Research and co-owner of Formulogics, Inc., a privately held consulting firm to the agricultural industry and has been involved in the development of pesticide products for more than 30 years. Dr. Lindsay worked for American Cyanamid, Mobil Chemical and FMC Corporation in the development of products to serve the agricultural and household markets. Dr. Lindsay received his B.A. and M.A. from Rutgers University and his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Clarkson University.

Andrew S. Kende, Ph.D. has been a member of the Scientific Advisory Panel since 1997. Dr. Kende received his B.A. from the University of Chicago, and his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at Harvard University. In 1968 he joined the faculty at the University of Rochester where he is now the C.F. Houghton Professor of Chemistry, with a joint appointment as Professor of Oncology. Dr. Kende is internationally recognized for over 220 publications and patents in the areas of synthetic methodology and natural products chemistry. In addition to chairing numerous prestigious committees, he has been recognized with a number of awards including a Guggenheim Fellowship (1978), Japan Society for Promotion of Science Fellowship (1986) and Royal Australian Chemical Institute Lecturer (1988). Dr. Kende works with oher Scientific Advisory Panel members and the company’s technical staff in the areas of chemical/nerve receptor analysis and product development.

Donald A. Reierson, M.A. has worked with EcoSMART since 1993 and was a founding member of the Scientific Advisory Panel in 1996. He is Staff Research Associate, Department of Entomology at the University of California at Riverside, with 100% research assignment as staff support scientist in Urban Entomology. Mr. Reierson is responsible for projects involving biology and control of fleas, ants, wasps, termites, cockroaches, and other urban pests. Mr. Reierson travels extensively, making frequent presentations at scientific meetings and has authored more than 200 papers and presentations. Mr. Reierson received his degree in Biology and Entomology from the University of California at Los Angeles. Mr. Reierson works with other Scientific Advisory Panel members and EcoSMART's technical staff in the areas of urban entomology and product development.
